Back to School: Educational and Training Videos

I’m continuing my list of memorable video projects today by highlighting the types of projects for which we are most frequently hired: educational and training videos.

1. During my first two years in business, I produced a series of youth education videos for the Jewish Institute for Youth and Family. The four videos are key elements to a program of workshops on Jewish values for teenagers, “Becoming a Mentsh”. You can view clips from the series on Mentsh.com.

2. The Superior Court of the District of Columbia hired Capture Video to produce an educational video to assist people who are interacting with the courts following intervention by the Child & Family Services Agency. The video helps teach people their rights, understand the process, and know what to expect as they work with the court and agency to create a safe and stable environment for their family.

“Jessica- I cannot thank you and the staff at Capture Video enough for doing such an amazing job on our video project. You were able to deliver exactly what we needed, when we needed it and within budget. During every stage of the production process – from conception to finalization, you were professional, knowledgeable, dependable, and solution-oriented, regardless of the obstacles we encountered. We are extremely proud and invariably delighted with the end results!” -Erayna Poles Grant, Family Court Division, Superior Court of the District of Columbia

3. Success in the City (SITC), a DC-area executive women’s organization, presented CEO Chick Chats. Capture Video videotaped and edited the main feature of these monthly events, which were interviews with (mostly) female CEOs. These videos, which we posted on SITC’s YouTube channel, made it possible for people who were unable to attend the events to watch the interviews and learn from the successes, experience, and wisdom being shared by the CEOs. However, because the events also included networking and community, there was still a benefit to attending in person, meaning the videos weren’t giving the event away for free.

“We love working with Capture Video and Jessica Piscitelli. Jessica brings her incredible skills to us and you can tell she loves capturing the essence of each conversation. We love working with people who love what they do and that is Jessica to the core. As a storyteller herself, Jessica gets how sharing the real story brings so much intrigue to each conversation.” -Cynthia de Lorenzi, SITC

In addition to sharing information, the videos of CEO Chick Chat served as promotional materials for SITC, the event sponsor, and future events.

4. Our project for Fairfax CASA was to produce videos of their volunteering training. CASA volunteers are advocates for children under the protection of the Fairfax County Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court and are required to participate in an extensive 40-hour training program. The training videos that Capture Video produced made it possible for prospective volunteers to watch the training if they missed a session, thereby enabling more people to complete the process to become volunteers and provide quality representation for children.

5. Capture Video also produced a training video for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) based on a panel discussion about scientific methods. The footage was edited into three 30-minute segments to be used for internal training and human resources purposes. The final video we delivered was Section 508-compliant and available in English and in Spanish.

Video is a cost-effective solution to delivering training to your employees or volunteers, sharing information with your members or network, and educating the public: it saves time by eliminating redundant presentations, reduces the cost of traveling to give or attend presentations, allows viewers to watch the videos on their own time without concern for scheduling conflicts, and ensures that everyone receives the same training or education regardless of their location, all while establishing your expertise.
